CONSIGMA® CDC FLEX. Ultimate flexibility in continuous direct compression.

Unlike traditional batch methods, CDC enables real-time quality control, continuous blending and compression, reducing process steps, plant footprint, and material handling.

This not only shortens development and scale-out timelines but also improves product consistency and quality with enhanced process control.

By minimizing material loss and enabling rapid response to market demands, CDC provides pharmaceutical manufacturers with a cost-effective, sustainable, and future-proof solution for oral solid dosage production.

Next-Generation CDC The CDC Flex from GEA Pharma & Healthcare combines flexibility with practicality. Faster changeovers, shorter cleaning cycles, and reduced delivery lead times make

it one of the most versatile and user-friendly continuous manufacturing (CM) systems available.

Setting a new benchmark for continuous direct compression tableting, the CDC Flex is designed to operate in three different process configurations (single- or two-stage blending, or immediate direct compression of preblended product) at throughput rates of 1–200 kg/h, and is capable of handling R&D batches as small as 500 g This has all been made possible by the ability to switch between different- sized blenders in a single unit.

This agility makes the CDC Flex ideal for both R&D projects and commercial-scale production runs. In addition, for companies with a wide product portfolio that wish to benefit from the advantages that CDC offers, the CDC Flex is the solution.

CONSIGMA® CDC FLEX. Continuous direct compression (CDC) offers a streamlined, efficient, and flexible approach to tablet manufacturing.

Benefits at a Glance • Versatile platform: starting from raw or pre-processed materials.

• Able to handle R&D batches of just 500 g with throughput rates of 1 to 200 kg/h

• The standalone press function can be used to bypass feeding and blending when needed

• Custom blender configurations: low or mid throughput, single- or two-stage blending

• ICH Q13-aligned control strategy: compatible with upstream continuous tableting (CT) lines.

GEA and Hovione have elevated their longstanding collaboration with the launch of the ConsiGma® CDC Flex and an array of automated tools that enhance efficiency, containment, and operator safety in the development phase, called SimpleCT. This next-generation system was designed for versatility, user-friendliness, and to provide a smoother workflow with automated controls and Smart interfaces.

Overall, the partnership seeks to make continuous tableting as intuitive and mature as traditional batch processes, thereby helping pharmaceutical manufacturers to reduce time-to-market, boost supply chain adaptability, and enhance product quality and sustainability.

Further developments are planned, and the partnership is already providing both parties with opportunities to evolve and improve CT technology in ways that hadn’t previously been considered. By continuing to work together, Hovione and GEA are committed to reducing the overall cost per tablet and making their equipment much easier and simpler to operate.
